Valentine’s Saltdough


plain uncoloured saltdough:

1 cup white flour

1/2 cup salt

1 cup water

1 tablespoon oil

1 tablespoon cream of tartar


1 beetroot, chopped into small chunks

dried rosebuds


Let’s Begin

Make a batch of plain salt dough if you don’t have one already

Cover the beetroot with water in a large pot and boil for 15 minutes

Remove the beetroot and reduce (by continuously boiling) the pink beetroot water until there are only a few tablespoons left

Put a tablespoon or two onto the salt dough and knead until the dough turns pink

Add cinnamon and rosebuds and knead again
